What is the best way to style your hair for the gym, and how do you walk out with great looking hair? Follow our tips to ensure you always have a good hair day!
Put dry shampoo in your hair before you workout
We all know that shampooing your hair every day is not good for you, but working out everyday is, so how do we balance the two? One way to stop your hair looking damp and greasy oily after the gym is to prep your hair with dry shampoo before you workout. Spray your roots section by section, paying special attention to the places you get the sweatiest, like your hairline and the back of your neck. When you brush it out after your workout, your hair will look fresh and clean.
Alternatively, you can just wash your roots at your neck and hairline with a bit of shampoo, followed by a quick blowdry to get volume back to the hair.
Choose the right hairstyle
In terms of hairstyles, keeping your hair out of your face is always a good idea. More than that, you should choose the appropriate hairstyle for the kind of workout you will be doing. For high-intensity workouts, secure your hair in a high bun. For medium intensity workouts, like running or zumba, a high ponytail works well, while braids are good for weightlifting. And of course headbands are a perfect match for activities like pilates or barre.
Wait, did someone say headbands?
Remember that headbands are not just a retro 80s thing. They come in many different colours, patterns and styles and can be worn in different ways so have fun with them!
Top Tip: Choose a headband that has holes in it to allow your hairline to breathe and prevent it from becoming too sweaty
Use the right accessories to tie up your hair
You can prevent creases and kinks in your hair, and even preserve your blowout, by using plastic hair bands and spiral bobby pins rather than elastic bands for your ponytails and buns.
Take a shower cap to the gym
If you are going to work after the gym and don’t want to get your hair wet, a shower cap will help protect your hair against moisture during your post workout shower. Plus, it’s small and easy to squish into your gym bag!
We hope you can enjoy now your next workout without any hair struggles!
