How do you make your hair look great on the days it has not been freshly washed and blowdried?

You don’t always have to wash your hair and spend hours making it look oh-so-perfect to get a stylish look. In fact, your hair is more versatile and has more texture when it has not been washed. Here are our top styling tips for second-day hair…or third, or forth.

1. Put it in a bun

Buns are the go-to hairstyle for second day hair. They hold better when your hair has not been washed, and there’s a different type of bun to suit every occasion. A quick and easy top knot will keep your hair out of your face during a busy day, while a chignon will give you an elegant look for the evening.

2. Try a Layered Ponytail

To emphasise the different layers and textures in your hair, try a ponytail with a twist. Pull different sections of your hair back from your face and pin them over each other before tying it all together at the nape of your neck for a pretty but effortless look.

3. Go Shabby Chic

To fully embrace your second-day hair, dampen it and then scrunch some texturising spray or mouse through it. This will emphasise its natural waves and curls. For a more bohemian look, weave in a few thin braids.

4. Class it up with some braids

Braids do not always have to be bohemian, and second day hair does not always have to be messy. Parting your hair and pulling it back into two french braids that can be wrapped up at the nape of your neck creates a stark, professional look.

5. Flip Your Parting

This is the easiest and fastest thing you can do when your hair starts looking a bit greasy and matted. Switching your parting will reveal the cleaner side of your hair as well as adding volume.
